Sound Nutrition Plan

What is a sound nutrition plan?

One that gives me all the nutrients I need in a day to keep my body happy and healthy. This is the plan that my doctor prescribed me:

In the morning:
4 oz of lean protein (meats, nuts, beans or tofu)
1 cup of whole grain or 1/2 cup of starchy vegetable
1 cup dairy (milk, soy milk, or cottage cheese)
1 cup of fruit
2 glass of water
1 multi vitamin

In the late morning:
1 glass of water

In the afternoon (4 hours after breakfast):
4 oz of lean protein
1 cup of raw vegetables
1 cup of cooked vegetables
1/2 Tbsp of oil or 1 Tbsp of salad dressing
2 glass of water

In the late afternoon:
1 glass of water

In the evening (5 hours after lunch):
4 oz of lean protein
1 cup of raw vegetables
1 cup of cooked vegetables
1 cup of whole grains or 1/2 cup of starchy vegetables
1/2 Tbsp of oil or 1 Tbsp of salad dressing
2 glass of water

Before bed (4 hours after dinner):
1 cup fruit
1 cup milk or 2 oz of lean protein
1 glass of water

My husband follows this plan too, but he increased the 4 oz of protein to 6 oz and added a grain to his afternoon meal.

Further, I stay away from any food that is processed; no sugar, flour, canned food, fast food, etc. I like to enjoy food as it is naturally produced by God. Eating this way brings me closer to my Divine Being.

How has my life improved by living out this plan? I used to have many ailments 9 months ago. Now, I am no longer obese (I lost 50 pounds), my blood pressure is 106/64, inflammation is gone, rosacea is disappearing, energy has increased, gi problems are gone, my eczema is gone, allergies are gone, and I haven’t been sick in 9 months (there have been some serious flus/cold that have come and gone through my house without touching me, highly irregular). Additionally, I know freedom of a happy and healthy life, my creativity flows with my self-discipline, my thinking is clear, I am able to retain information, I am able to complete complicated tasks with ease, I am consistent and dependable and I cherish my way of life as critical to my well-being.

I no longer worry about when the next time I will eat because I have a plan, food log that I email a friend (to stay accountable) and a willingness to live it out.

In addition to my food plan, I exercise for 30 minutes everyday (walking, yoga, ballet or pilates).

Thank you for reading.

Have a colorful day,
Brooke

*I recommend anyone interested in starting this food plan to first consult their doctor. This food plan was prescribed to me by my doctor. Others may need to live a slightly different plan to suit their health needs.
